What Google has announced about safeguarding privacy
Google has announced new updates aimed at safeguarding the privacy and personal information of its users while using the search engine. The updates include an enhanced tool called 'Results about you', a new 'SafeSearch', and an updated policy on personal explicit imagery. The 'Results about you' tool provides users with a dashboard to check if their contact details have appeared in Google search results. Users can also remove their contact information from search results using this tool. The new 'SafeSearch' tool comes with a built-in blurring setting for explicit images, while users can turn off the setting when a guardian or school administrator has locked it. Google's Head of Communications and Public Affairs for sub-Saharan Africa, Dorothy Ooko, said that the new privacy tools were introduced as a response to growing concerns over privacy and safety issues online.
