Machakos: man accused of stabbing woman in supermarket arraigned in Court

Patrick Mwangi, who was captured stabbing a woman on July 22, 2023. Patrick Mwangi, a man accused of killing Eunice Syokau on Monday appeared before Machakos Law Court.  Mwangi is accused of stabbing Syokau on July 22, 2023, in Mwala, Machakos County.  In a video captured on CCTV, the two appeared to be having a conversation as Syokau picked items from supermarket shelves  Shortly, Mwangi removed an object from his pocket and directed it to her chest.  After the act, Mwangi is said to have attempted suicide by taking a substance that will now be taken to a government chemist for further analysis. Mwangi was taken to Masii Level 3 Hospital and later to Machakos Level 5 Hospital, where he was treated and discharged. He was then taken back to Masii police station, while Syokau succumbed to injuries.  Appearing before court on Monday, Principal Magistrate Charles Ondieki ordered for a mental assessment to be conducted on the suspect.  The case will be mentioned...

Six people are nursing injuries after been shot on the ongoing demonstrations in Homabay

Six people have been admitted to the Homa Bay County Teaching and Referral Hospital after sustaining gunshot wounds from anti-government protests on Thursday.  The six were shot following running battles between police and the protestors in Homa Bay Town. The six include four men and two women who sustained gun injuries during protests in Shauri Yako area when police were engaging youths during day two of anti -government protest. The hospital’s CEO Dr Peter Ogolla said the two men who were shot on the upper thigh are waiting surgical operation. Both are admitted at the facility in a stable condition. Locals in Runyenjes, Embu County are a worried lot after some of them were duped into buying monkey meat. Speaking to IsuniTv , residents in Maranga village said they dashed for the cheap meat, with a kilogram going for 80 shillings.  Preliminary investigations show that a group of boys trapped the monkey before butchering it and slicing it into lusciously mouthwatering strips. They went ahead to put the finished product on display, attracting curious buyers who arrived in droves. "The monkey was notorious for invading farms in our village. They destroy our crops, leading to poor yields," another added. A section of residents however took issue with the group of boys for duping locals into buying the game meat. "We will pray for those boys. What they did was not right. Many bought the meat thinking it was beef," an infuriated resident said. Famous Comedian and former radio presenter Vinnie Baite has announced his intention to break a new Guinness World Record in the consumption of miraa. Through his Facebook page, Baite wrote a humorous message stating that after observing various people attempting to set Guinness World Records in different activities, he has decided to focus on chewing miraa. Baite mentioned that his goal is to set a record by continuously chewing miraa for 100 hours without stopping. He requested his followers to support him by providing miraa and peanuts, as peanuts are commonly consumed alongside miraa.
